The Exe Estuary
Located on the stunning south coast of Devon, the Exe Estuary is a vibrant and diverse landscape teeming with wildlife. It is internationally recognised for its importance to wildlife, providing vital habitat for species such as dark-bellied brent geese, curlew, and redshank, as well as supporting rich saltmarsh and mudflat ecosystems. The estuary marks the beginning of the iconic Jurassic Coast, features Blue Flag beaches, and offers countless ways to enjoy the outdoors, from sailing and paddleboarding to birdwatching and nature photography.
Whether you are exploring on foot, by bike, wheelchair or buggy, the estuary’s extensive network of safe walking and cycling trails offers spectacular views, peaceful picnic spots, and a chance to connect with nature. It is a place where wildlife, recreation, and community come together, making it one of Devon’s most treasured natural spaces
The Exe Estuary Management Partnership
The Exe Estuary Management Partnership is a non-statutory collaboration that brings together organisations, some of which have statutory responsibilities for managing specific aspects of the estuary, alongside local communities. While the Partnership itself does not hold any legal powers, it provides a valuable space for discussion, sharing information, and supporting the sustainable use and long term stewardship of the estuary.
